My Bucket List

Time Travel

Once upon a time there lived Kozmo the dog,Steve the donkey,my mate Drake and I. We were thieves so we went around stealing everything. Our hideout was full of good and useless stuff that we stole.

One night we all went out to rob a house but then we came across something in the backyard of the person’s house. We decided to go and check it out and It turned out to be... a photo booth?!? I thought  it was pretty cool and decided to take it. We soon arrived back at our hideout and we all went to bed for some sleep.

We all woke up and did all the stuff we needed to do and decided to check out the photo booth. So we went in and there was no money hole? We took the photo as everyone was ready and (“flash”) as it was printing out the photo but just as we were going out , we all heard gunshots which was strange?!?

Next thing we knew we were all hiding inside a plane crash fearing for our lives. There was a MASSIVE war going on outside and it was the war between New Zealand and Australia vs Turkey! Oh my goodness , that photo booth brought us back in time! The time travel was in the trenches and everyone was around it. We had a plan and decided to run with it. So as we silently made our way towards the time machine , Drake went to grab a gun and he fired it! BANG!!!BANG!!!BANG!!!BANG!!! Turkey’s men thought that our men had got in their hideout! Drake ran up and jumped out a window and ran straight for the time travel booth , Explosions and gunshots were so close to hitting him but I was waiting there ready for the photo. Drake was 10 meters away but then a grenade landed right in front of the the booth , he had 2 seconds to reach and he dived in and we just left in time!

Suddenly we tumbled over and out of the booth. My guess was that the Big Bang had just happened because it felt like the countries were moving. The time machine was just about to fall off the land and sink and so I tried rolling towards it and sure enough I did it! I signaled everyone else to try and get them to see me but I had no luck! There was only one other way for them to see me and it was for me to go to them. So I used the trees to grapple me up and I got closer and closer to Drake. But then the piece of land we were on turned and I fell down but I managed to get grip on the tree below me. Eventually I got everyone and we got out of there!!! We all wished that we were never thieves and I could even tell that Kozmo and Steve were tired and just wanted to go home.

Now we could smell smoke and could hear around 1 million people screaming like it was the end of the WORLD!!! We went out and in about 3 seconds I knew that we were on the Titanic. Everyone was panicking as they rushed passed us. I got amongst the crowd to the top of the boat and it was a matter of time before it was going to sink. So I ran down to the boiler room and checked for a way to make the boat float. And believe it or not , I think that I had but I wasn't sure. I HAD to tell the captain and so I ran down to the captain’s office and there he was trying to get radio signal. I told him to come with me but he budge and I told him I might have found a way to keep the ship afloat. And THEN he came! We got there and the captain said there was a way to fix it but he said “I will need an engineer or someone that is good at fixing things.”

Drake had popped right into my mind because he used to be an engineer and so I rushed of to get Drake… 4 minutes later… Drake was working hard out and said “I’m almost there I’m almost there!!!”

The ship was just about to go under and then it was fixed and everything was functional as the ship went straight back up! It was afloat as the three of the stood there and next minute the boat was full of screaming joyful happy voices! Everything was back online and so we went back up and EVERYONE was waiting for us so we got a MASSIVE surprise!!!

4 hours later… It was time to say goodbye to everyone on the ship. Drake, Kozmo , Steve and I arrived back to actual Earth in our time and I kissed the grass so many times I lost count. We returned the booth back to it’s place and Drake started a new life . And for me well I became a vet and oh yeah It was no stealing!

How to be a good student

Are you a person who struggle's alot in class. Well today I will be telling you how to be a good student and to be a good student you are going to have a growth mindset, quality and to focus. So read on to find out how to be a awesome and great student.

In order to be a good student you will need quality. This means you will have to put most of your writing e.g. instead of writing a really boring piece on a really easy topic you could pick a really interesting topic and write alot about it. Having quality work is something that you definitely need to be a good student.

Also to be a good student you will need a growth mindset. If you have a growth mindset this means you don't give up on whatever your doing even if it's really hard. Don't give up e.g. if you are struggling on a math's problem and you can't do it don't give up because eventually you will get the answer and maybe learned a thing or two. Having a growth mindset means not giving up and trying you best at what your doing. To be a good student you will need a growth mindset.

 Lastly you will need to focus on what your doing. In order to focus you will need to forget everything that's going on around you which can be hard sometimes but you just need to ignore it. E.g. your friends are talking about a new game that you really want but you have to get to your work done. This is were your choices come and you have two choices and they are that you talk and get in trouble or you can do your work and your teacher would be happy at you.
Focusing is a big thing when it comes to work!

Overall to be a good student you need quality,growth mindset and to focus.


    

Trip

Hi everyone! In maths we have been finding out hints and turning it into a letter for our writing. So just so you know, this is not true.

The year 5’s will be going on a school trip to the Golden Valley Wildlife Park.

The trip will be on the 3rd of November, leaving at 9:10 am. The children must come to school on time for roll call. We will be leaving by bus and will be back at 3:45. Children must bring one doller for the trips exspensives.The children can bring a maximum of $5 to spend. Please bring a raincoat and a packed lunch. Please do not bring drinks in a glass bottle. 3 adluts will be coming with 2 teachers. Please write your signature below to comfirm that your child can come.

Italy RWC 2015 challenge

Did you know that people did a survey and 78% of kiwi’s don’t want our flag to change?I believe we should not change our flag and by the end of this speech you should think the same! This is because all the money could go towards better things, not many people even want to change the flag and New Zealand is well known for the flag.

Key point 1

Firstly it will cost New Zealand too much money to change our flag. It will cost 25.7 million dollars just for the build up and then the whole thing will cost around 90 million dollars. I’m sure that we could use all of that money on better things like charity, maybe upgrading some building to make them safe if an earthquake hits, and some other things. Did you know that 26 million dollars could fund the entire kids can progame for eight years?It could also buy around 26 million free school lunches at an estimated $1 dollar each. Why are we spending the money on the flag when we could taking care of poor children?

Key point 2

It is certain that quite alot of people don’t actully want to change our flag. The RSA is trying to help not change the flag. There has also been some lack of interest because not many people have been showing up to the puplic meetings. And then there would be people who were born under the flag because some famous people like Billy T. Jones would basically just be fogotten. But if we don’t change the flag those people can be remembered forever.

Key point 3

NZ is well known for the flag.

NZ’rs would have fought under the flag and repersented it. For instance when we won the rugby world cup in 2011, everyone would have seen our flag waving around so they know what country we are. I’m also pretty sure that people who watch the olympics would know who we are based on our flag. This is because we have good athletes.

Conclusion

Overall we should not change the flag because it will cost way to much money, not many people want to change the flag and New Zealand is well known for the flag.

Science Investigation

We are starting to do some things with science because science week is coming up and so we have been on a website where we get to chose what we want to do and there is things to do with the solar system, shadows, wildlife and some parts of some things.

I chose to do a lesson called Light Being Reflected and so obviously it has to do with light and so I learnt how light rays reflect off surfaces and also how light rays travel from the sun to your eyes while looking at something.

Once upon a time there was a little bird that was the size of your computer mouse and then another came and sat next to it and it had a massive yawn and it pushed the other one by accident then the other little bird got angry at him and so they started arguing and then another bird came and they started arguing and then all 15  birds were there and all arguing.

Then they all stop because they saw a bird that was watching them and the little birds started whispering jokes to each other about the other bird and then started laughing.Then the other bird came and sat in the middle and all the birds moved away from the other one.

Then the little birds poked the other bird and he fell down but he was still hanging on and then one of the little birds pecked at the other bird claws and it slipped of  and then he had an idea to peck at the other birds claws and so they did but then one of the little birds noticed that if he fell of they would go flying into the air and so he told the others and they started saying to the little birds that were happily trying to get the other bird off and they stopped but then?

They went flying into the air just like I said and all of there feathers came off  when they went up.So they all fell on the ground with the other bird sitting there and then he started laughing so hard that his head could pop open but he was okay.And so the birds grabbed a feather to cover them and then hid behind the bird.                    The End!!!!!!             
   

Term Two Reflection

Hi there I will now do the reflection!!!!!

1.I am most pleased with my maths because in my report it has said that I am at the standed and last year I was below the standed and the standed goes up each year so I have improved.

2.I had enjoyed the Talent Quest because there was alot of entertaiment and it had taken up the rest of the day!!!

3.We had a problem solving worksheet where we had to find out how many shells Adrian and Alexa had collected in there holidays and the awnser was 17 days and that's what I got so I got it correct YAY!!!

4.I feel that I need to get back on to my reading because at home I would do reading before I go to bed but I haven't been doing much of that so I need to start doing some more each night.

5. In term 3 I think we should learn about history because there is ALOT to learn about and sometimes it can be fun to learn about.

6.My favourite thing from the checklist is sqiggle story and squiggle story is were someone creates a sqiggle and then we have to draw a picture from the sqiggle and then write about it.

7. My personal goal will be trying to listen to what the teacher is saying so then I will know everything on what we need to do and will be ready to do it.

Autumn Leaves Poem

EOTC Week

On Wednesday we had Youthtown come and everyone was excited and once everyone was ready Miss Cooper put us in our groups but my mum was there and so obviously I was with her and so everyone else got in there groups.Then we went outside to meet the instructors and they told us the activities and then they told us what groups were doing what and we were doing archery first.

So we went down to the bottom courts and sat down behind a line of rope and the instructor showed us how to hold the bow and then the foot stance and then how to shoot the bow.So we all got three rounds and tree arrows to shoot per one.Then we had a competition and our team was called 

the bull-eyes and this time we only had two arrows to shoot and the first shot it hit the board for ten points and then it hit the red for 50 POINTS so I got 60 POINTS overall!!!

Soon we walk back up to the field to do Flintstones Cart Building and so we sat down and the instructor was holding some rope and bamboo.So then he told us that we were going to make the car from The Flintstones it was a TV show if you know it.So our instructor told us we had to try a new knot and we were going to use it on the car so we did that and then gathered everything that we needed like 2 blue barrels the poles of bamboo the string and then put everything together and then tied everything the knots on the car.Three people were allowed in it at a time and so we all got into groups of three and then our instructor got a group to go in first and sadly it wasn't my group so they jumped in and everyone got into place and pushed them...finally it was our turn we were the last one's to go on and so we went on and it was really fun and that was the Flintstones Cart Building.

The we ran to the handball courts to do some Problem Solving Games.So the first game was a mine game were we had to jump from pad to pad in a secret pattern if not you would get blown up by a mine.Later on we found the pattern and I was the first one to make it through!!!Then we played a game were we had a pipe and the lady would drop a marble down and we make a track all the way down to a plastic cup and the marble had to land in it and we failed that big time we couldn't control the marble properly.Then we played a game were we had to get across a lake to the other side and we had two long pieces of wood and we had to get across with them and so that was pretty.

Then we walked down to the gully to do walkie talkies and so we sat down in our amphitheater and the guy told us how to use them and stuff like that.Then we played a game like hide and seek and so there were two teams which were the runners and the seekers and I was in the runners team so we had to hide and give them clues as well.We gave them some clues but they found us!!!And then we all played some naughts and crosses and we won 1-2 games.

Then we walked back up to the field to do tipi building were we had to build a little hut so we got into groups of three again and sat down.The lady taught us how to tie a new knot and then we got to it and so we grab some bamboo tied it together put the blanket on and done!!!

And that was my favorite part of EOTC Week!!!!!!

Clock-tower writing

   Once upon a time there was a clock-tower and inside the clock-tower there was a girl that made the clock-tower work.  If the clock-tower wasn't working then that meant that the world wouldn't be moving, no balloons would float to the sky, no people would move.

The girl really wanted to experience the world outside but she couldn't because she was stuck inside a dark smelly and not nice clock-tower that controlled the world.One day she purposely jumped out of her spot and looked outside. Then she went outside and she saw that the world had stopped and she immediately went back inside and made the clock work.


A prince had heard about her and he wanted to help her but the king said "no, you can not help her. I do not want you to get hurt and I especially don't want you touching that filthy girl". The prince got angry and went for a calm walk on his horse and then he got the mechanic and set off to the clock-tower.


The king went to go and find  his prince but he couldn't find him anywhere so he sent out a search party.His guards couldn't find the prince and so they went back to the king and said "King we could not find him"and then the king said "Not good enough you guys I want you to send 30 guards out to every town"and so the guards went and told every single guard/guards to just what the king had said!!!

3 days later...

The prince has now arrived at the town and every single person froze and was amazed at what they were looking at.Then the prince walked up all 50 stairs until he was at the top of the clock-tower and the girl tried to see who or what it was but she was to busy making the world spin.The prince shouted "HI is anyone here"and the girl shouted "JUST ME" and so the prince followed the voice and around the corner there was the girl.He told the mechanic to find the right part and so the mechanic pulled out his tool box and slipped the part in as the girl slipped out.


The next day the prince had stayed the night at the village and woke up with a terrible sound coming from outside so he got up to see what it was and there were 30 guards destroying the village and he noticed that it was his dads guards and so he went straight out and the guards saw him just as they were about to destroy the first house.the prince said "what are you doing"! and the guards replied with "the king got 30 men to go to each village and so were were one of the groups 30 men.Okay I will come back but I have one more thing to do.


A little while later the prince proposed to the girl and of course the girl said yes and the prince said "I still haven't got your name"and the girl said "my name is grace" and so they returned to the castle got married and every turned out okay. 




  





























  

Goal Reflection

               Hi this is my goal reflection.


 1. basic facts to twenty.

I have completed this goal because I have passed addition on our maths program on the computer and so now I can answer them quickly.

2. To edit my work better

I have to work on this goal because sometimes I am forgetting to add some punctuation or when I spell a word wrong I won't go back to it.

3. Expanding vocabulary 

I have been doing this goal but I don't think I've been doing it enough so I think I need to work on this goal until I use a range of strategy's to find out what a word means and then use that word.

4. Keep my desk tidy


I have completed this goal because I have kept my desk nice and tidy and whenever i go into my desk I can find what I need straight away.

Hamilton!!!

                                                       

On the first week of the holidays (on Tuesday) I got up at 7 o' clock and had breakfast,brushed my teeth and then waited for my poppa to come because we were going to Hamilton and he was coming at 9 o' clock!

At 9 o' clock he arrived at our house and so we headed off.We were driving to the city to catch the bus there but we had some time to do some stuff so we parked in the Sky city car park and went up the lift to the ground floor and then walked outside and sat down and played some games until it was time to go and we played some I spy and then it was about time to go so we walked to bus station and hopped  on and every time we went to Hamilton we guessed how many people were going to hop on.

Sadly I fell asleep which I did not want to do but happily we made it to Hamilton so we got out and had a BIG  STRETCH and walked over to the mall to have something to eat and we shared a chocolate cake and a milkshake,YUM!!! And then we went to the warehouse to play hide and seek and I was hiding for such a long time that I decided to go and find poppa, I was trying to find him but I couldn't find him until I went around the corner and he was right there!!!Then I ask if it was time to go and he said yes.

So we walked to the bus station to get a taxi and we got one so we hopped in and the lady took us to the train station and the lady was 80 years old! So once we arrived we went into the train station building and play heads or tails. About 20 minutes later the train arrived and so we hoped on and the the train set off from Hamilton to Auckland and when we left we got dinner and I had macaroni cheese and that was delicious and a caramel slice. Then we arrived home and I went to bed.  

And that was my day at Hamilton!!!

EOTC Week Reflection

Hi there this is what I thought  of EOTC week.

1. How are you feeling after EOTC week? Explain.
Tired it was a awesome week with really cool activities but I at the end of the day I felt really tired.
2. What did you enjoy most during EOTC week? Explain.
Youth town was my favorite thing I really liked the activities that they set up and my favorite one was archery.
3. What was your least favorite thing about EOTC week? Explain.
Onehunga pools.They had freezing pools and they had a slide and that was the only good thing about it and then there was the indoor pool which was sooooooo warm and I could've swam in there for the whole time.
4.Tell us about something new that you learned.

I learned how to shoot a bow in archery which was cool and I almost got a bull-eye.

My writing goals

Hi,

my writing goal is to edit my work properly because sometimes when I show it to our teacher I didn't edit it properly so I need to double check it before I show it.

I will check for mistakes, spelling and punctuation. I will see that my work makes sense. I can add better words.

Oscars reading goals

 Hi my reading goal is expanding vocab.

So that means that if I find some really good words my goal is to use them in my writing to make  my writing more exciting!!!

I think this is a good goal because if we see a good word it just doesn't stay in your head, you should write it down and then use it.
